Stamp Out Stress

Here are three quick tips you can incorporate into your daily life to help stamp out stress.

1. CREATE A BUBBLE. Something troubling/annoying you today? Put it all in context if you can and create a little bubble around yourself - through which mundane everyday stress can't penetrate.  Someone skipped the bus queue? You can choose to get annoyed or not. Unless it directly affects the wellbeing of yourself or your family/friends, shrug it off & let it pass you by. As the Dalai Lama once said:

"Don't let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace."

Don't worry, karma will deal with the offender.

2. TUNE OUT. This is a controversial one but even though I'm a former journalist, I've largely tuned out from listening to the news. Yes it's important to be informed about the world around us but it's easy to fall into the habit of checking our news apps habitually, almost addictively. We don't have to be soaking it up 24/7. News by its nature is generally negative and whether we realise it or not, we absorb that negativity into our lives.

3. TUNE IN...to the world around you. As wishy-washy as it sounds, make an effort to feel 'alive' every day. Whether it's a walk / noticing something beautiful in nature or enjoying a bit of time playing with your kids - live in the moment even for just a few minutes every day.
