5 Ways To Simplify Your Wellness

AIR.JPG

Do you feel a little overwhelmed with the tsunami of wellness advice coming at you on social and email?  There’s a lot of clamouring going on amongst wellness providers to offer the most online classes and the best tips, all with great intentions. The result of which, however, might actually end up having the opposite effect.

There’s a pressure to be doing home Yoga; getting out for your daily run and aggressively ‘Marie Kondo-ing’ your life…all while home-schooling your children if you have them.  Don’t worry, we feel the same way too – and we’re in the wellness industry!

So we’ve come up with five ways to reduce the wellness noise and help you not flounder under the pressure of living with Covid.

  1. PICK A CLASS – AND STICK WITH IT

Are you ricocheting from one Yoga teacher to the next depending on who happens to be on Instagram Live at any given time? We were – and ended up going from the end of one Yoga class straight into a HIIT abs session from someone in Liverpool. Choose a teacher, preferably in Ireland to support our own, and stick with them. You get to know their style and strangely can build a rapport with them even through a one-sided session. Even better if you can attend their classes in person on the other side of this experience.

Do your kids see your cat-cow pose and an invitation to climb all over you? When they see a closed door – it becomes a challenge. Either use your children as extra weight or ask them to do a job when they stroll in. They’ll be gone again in 5 seconds flat.

  2. DON’T MEANDER AROUND INSTAGRAM - PICK A DESTINATION

Instead of aimlessly strolling through feeds - pick a handful of profiles that will inspire you or put a smile on your face. Just go straight to these feeds instead of tripping around images of how productively perfect other people’s day has been. We’re loving @amyhuberman and @mytherapistsays for the laughs.

  3. GET OUT EARLY

Getting up and out for fresh air / exercise early is helping with productivity for the rest of the day. If you can, get out for a run or walk first thing. It has the added benefit of forcing you out of the PJs too.

  4. RAMP UP THE BEATS

Create a high energy ‘Lockdown’ playlist to clean your house to OR just steal ours…follow it here.

  5. GIVE YOURSELF A DAY OFF

Stay home – well, that’s covered. Find the sofa. Watch daytime TV. Let your house get messy. Eat junk. Drink wine. One of our favourite sayings is: ‘Everything in moderation – including moderations itself.’ In other words, give yourself a day off and just cocoon.

We hope you’re enjoying the downtime and staying safe. Sending love to those who don’t have the opportunity to stay home and rest; to our healthcare workers; to our volunteers; to those bravely working on the front line and those keeping vital supplies circulating.
