Dr Clare Cushen qualified from Trinity College, Dublin and practised General Medicine in Ireland and Australia, before completing a Masters in Clinical Dermatology at the prestigious St Johns Institute of Dermatology, Kings College, London.
She completed her thesis on new advances in acne treatment, and this has now become one of her main areas of interest. She practises full-time in cosmetic clinics in Ireland and is committed to providing the highest level of care in a discreet professional environment.
She has a keen eye for aesthetics and in addition to injecting Botox and dermal fillers, recognises the need for addressing other skin issues such as pigmentation and UV damage, dull tone and texture, sagging skin and acne scarring.
This attitude of addressing as many skin problems as possible, quite often through a combination of skilfully executed procedures, has become her niche.
BOTOX
Facial lines are caused by the repeated use of the facial muscles in a particular manner. Facial lines form wherever we frown, squint or smile. Frown lines on the forehead and 'crows feet' around the eyes are some of the earliest signs of ageing and are readily softened and often completely disappear with anti wrinkle injections.
Botulinum toxin injections is a preventative treatment to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes. When you smile or frown, this is a result of a nerve signal from your brain to your muscles causing them to move.
Botulinum toxin is a purified protein that blocks this signal from brain to the nerve endings. Injections are given to temporarily put the muscles to sleep for a period of three to six months, although the results can last longer with repeated treatments.
This freezing of the muscle is always temporary. The aim is to break the habit of frowning and educate the patient in his or her facial movement so that one forgets how to frown. Usually patients have several of these injections over a year or two until the frowning habit is broken. Most patients notice that their existing frown lines do soften because the forehead is completely relaxed.
FILLERS
A combination of ageing and genetics give some people much deeper lines around the mouth, particularly the lines that run from the edge of the nose to the corner of the mouth (the nasolabials) and the lines from the corner of the mouth to the jawline (the marionettes). The best treatment for these lines are dermal fillers which plump up the furrows, restoring a more youthful look. They can also add fullness to the lips and cheeks.i
Juvederm Ultra.
Juvederm Ultra is a hyaluronic acid based filler which can restore the first signs of volume loss and rejuvenate the face. Using a very fine needle Juvederm is injected under the surface of the skin, superficially, to plump out fine lines and wrinkles. Juvederm is mainly used in the nasolabial folds, for wrinkle treatment and lip definition & volume. It contains Lidocaine to help reduce any discomfort during treatment.

How long will the results last for?
Between 3 to 6 months for botox injections. Between 6 months to 2 years for facial fillers. The duration can depend on age, how much filler is injected and the injection site.
Is there any recovery time needed?
There is no recovery time for anti wrinkle injections. For Dermal Filler injections redness and swelling may last for 24 hours after treatment. However some people may experience swelling and bruising for up to 7 days after Dermal Filler injections, particularly around the mouth.
How do I know my medic is experienced and reputable?
